Nostalgia 64

A series of digital pieces based on and inspired by games from the Nintendo 64, meant to evoke the nostalgia I have for them.

Pikachu Sex Kick

This piece is inspired by an image on the Smash Bros. wiki, a wikipedia page for the Super Smash Bros. series of games, more specifically for the first entry in the series, “Super Smash Bros.” for the Nintendo 64. This image and caption from the wiki is explaining a type of move certain characters have, called a “sex kick”, which is kind of weird and kind of funny. This redraw I made includes a character performing said move, the pause screen UI from the game, and the caption underneath the image from the wiki explaining what the image above is.

“This Time, We Fight Together”

Based on the final battle in “The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time” for the Nintendo 64, this piece shows an interpretation of the scene where the hero of the game, Link, finishes off the main villain. The piece is drawn in a way where the viewer is the villain, seeing the heroes staring you down as the hero strikes the final blow. Upon a recent playthrough of this game, I realized how sad this final battle was, from the heavy and dramatic music to the dialogue of the protagonists, as they try to win against all odds, where all hope seems lost. This scene really struck a chord with me and I wanted to try to represent this feeling in my own way.
